HAMBURGER MARY’S REVIEW BY JAMES KATALBAS
There we SOOO many options…I felt like I was in an episode of Portlandia where they go to that restaurant Around The World In 80 Plates.
First you pick your meat, which includes your typical beef but it also has more interesting options like cheese stuffed beef, ostrich and buffalo. Then you pick your style where they have 14 different options for toppings on your burger. The creativeness shines really through here. Some of the options include the Sloppy Mary…with this one you get your burger made similar to a sloppy joe, Buffy the Hamburger Slayer which is loaded with garlic or the Mac Daddy which adds Mac and Cheese to your burger.
Once you’ve decided both of those, you pick your side. There’s some variety here too. Some of the fan favorites included the sweet potato fries, waffle fries and tater tots. I ended up having the Buffalo Mary Burger with sweet potato fries. The Mary burger comes with your typical fixings of lettuce, tomato, pickles and cheese. Since I decided to switch it up with the buffalo meat, I thought it would be be smarter to keep things pretty simple when it came to toppings.
On a side note, I have to give random fun points to Hamburger Mary’s for their bathroom! Disco ball with a mannequin and Abba’s “Dancing Queen” on repeat…whoa!! Once I got back from the restroom, my food was ready to go. The buffalo meat was alright but nothing that blew my hair back. It was actually pretty sloppy too. Halfway through my burger, I had to start going in with my knife and fork because it had already fallen apart! The sweet potato fries were average…kinda soggy and loaded with sugar. So it wasn’t the greatest burger but definitely a good time! Back to how awesome the service was though…they gave Jojo a free cake with one of those huge sparklers like they have for bottle service at the clubs. The craziest part was when he tried blow it out like a candle but the sparks almost burned off his friend’s face across the table!! You can kinda see the aftermath in the pictures below. But it was a great time and I can’t wait for the next BEU!!
